Cafe de Patan was established in 1982, a time when there were no facilities of any sort for international visitors in Mangal Bazaar area.
Though many have followed our example in the couple of decades since, we still have the most extensive experience and continue to draw the largest number of both international and local patrons.
At present, we operate a restaurant and bar with a total seating capacity of 120 persons - in combination with two dining rooms, semi-enclosed patio and bi-level
rooftop terrace. We serve a broad range of western and Nepali meals, snacks and drinks, primarily to tour groups and individual tourists. We also cater to the tastes of local residents,
and interested visitors, with a service of traditional Newari food.
During the past 13 years, we have also catered for weddings, 'bartamans', and other celebrations. In addition to the now common place 'mixed buffet' service,
we are also the only group to successfully cater for very authentic traditional feasts for large groups.
Committed to serve hygienic food prepared with fresh local ingredients, all the vegetables are soaked in Iodized Water. Even the Ice is made out of mineral water here at Cafe de Patan.
